Images
Immunohistochemical staining using Collagen Type VI antibody (biotin) (60R-CR006bt)
Anti collagen VI antibody (1:400 45 min RT) showed strong staining in FFPE sections of human placenta (Left) with red staining of stromal and extracellular spaces, and in testis (Right) with staining of extracellular spaces between seminiferous tubules). Slides were steamed in 0. 01 M sodium citrate buffer, pH 6. 0 at 99-100 deg C - 20 minutes for antigen retrieval.

General Information
Biological Significance | Collagen is a group of naturally occurring proteins found, in nature, exclusively in animals, especially in the flesh and connective tissues of mammals. It is the main component of connective tissue, and is the most abundant protein in mammals, making up about 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content. Collagen alpha-1(VI) chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL6A1 gene. Collagen VI is a major structural component of microfibrils. The basic structural unit of collagen VI is a heterotrimer of the alpha1(VI), alpha2(VI), and alpha3(VI) chains. The alpha2(VI) and alpha3(VI) chains are encoded by the COL6A2 and COL6A3 genes, respectively. |
