|Biological Significance||UCK2 also known as uridine-cytidine kinase 2 is belongs to the uridinekinase family. UCK2 catalyzes the phosphorylation of uridine monophosphate to uridine diphosphate and cytidine monophosphate. It plays a role in the production of pyrimidine nucleoside triphosphates required for RNA and DNA synthesis. In addition, an allele of this gene may play a role in mediating nonhumoral immunity to Hemophilus influenzae type B. Recombinant human UCK2 protein, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.|
